ABOUT ME

I’m Begüm, the artist behind markedbybeg. I work primarily in black and grey, using soft shading, dotwork, and fluid, organic linework.

For me, tattooing is more than creating something visually pleasing. Every tattoo marks a moment, a feeling, or a chapter in someone’s life.

I value connection and trust throughout the tattoo process, taking the time to listen, understand, and create something that feels right for the person wearing it. My aim is to create work that feels personal, calm, and considered.

EDUCATION

2016 - 2019

Fashion Design & Technology Undergraduate Program

Istanbul Moda Akademisi

I studied Fashion Design at IMA, where I developed a strong foundation in composition, form, and visual storytelling. The program sharpened my eye for detail, balance, and flow, while also teaching me how to translate ideas and emotions into tangible designs. This background continues to shape my tattoo practice, informing my approach to linework, movement, and thoughtful design, and supporting a process that values intention, sensitivity, and personal expression.

2021

Tattoo Course
Cleopatra Ink Academy

I completed an intensive two-month tattoo course at Cleopatra Ink Academy, where I gained hands-on training in tattoo fundamentals, technique, and hygiene. This experience marked a pivotal step in translating my artistic background into tattooing, allowing me to refine my technical skills while developing a mindful, client-focused approach. The course helped solidify my understanding of the tattoo process and laid the foundation for creating work that is both technically sound and thoughtfully considered.

2023

Digital Sketching Course
Procreate

I completed an online digital sketching course focused on working in Procreate, which expanded my ability to develop and refine ideas digitally. This course strengthened my sketching workflow, composition planning, and adaptability during the design process. Digital sketching has become an important part of how I collaborate with clients, allowing concepts to evolve thoughtfully before being translated onto skin.
